Meet Hailley, our October 2020 “Mentor of the Month.”
Hailley is in her second year as a college student at Northern Virginia Community College - Loudoun Campus. While attending NOVA, Hailley is pursuing studies in nursing. Her career aspirations are to become a Developmental Nurse or a Special Education Teacher.
Hailley has been a peer mentor for College Steps since August of 2020. Hailley has been reliable, a supportive in-class mentor, helps students make sense of their notes and organizing class materials, also she helps students reach out to NOVA tutoring services, and guided them through effective study strategies. Hailley brings a cheerful attitude to her sessions every day and has a talent for engaging students and connecting with them in meaningful ways.
“I honestly cannot think of a day when Hailley has shown up to a session without a bright smile,” says Tommy Murphy, Program Coordinator for NOVA Loudoun. “She helps students ease into tasks through her cheerful encouragement and supportive presence. I know that she has already made a big difference in our students’ lives, and I see her continuing to make an impact through her thoughtful and caring approach to working with others.”
