Meet Fatimetou, our December 2022 “Mentor of the Month.”
Fatimetou works as a Peer Mentor at Northern Virginia Community College - Alexandria campus. Fatimetou is originally from West Africa and after four years of college in France, she courageously came to the US to attend NOVA. She was recently featured in a NOVA article about her journey as an International student, transferring credits, and coming to work with College Steps students.

“In Africa, we usually don’t discuss the difficulties that arise from those disabilities (learning and social challenges). Working for College Steps has gotten me out of my comfort zone, I get to work with students with whom I share the same goals. They inspire me, and I help them be more confident about their potential.”
