Meet Grace, our March 2023 “Mentor of the Month.”
Grace originally from Dublin, Ireland, and a senior majoring in psychology, is an extremely valued member of the College Steps peer mentor team at AIC. Grace has provided hundreds of hours of support for students on the AIC campus, mentoring both in the classroom and out of the classroom setting with students working on a range on goals. Anybody who meets Grace can immediately sense her natural ability to connect with and uplift those around her. Her genuine kindness and caring is felt by all, students and peer mentors alike. One thing about Grace to truly be celebrated is her ability to get creative and persist in her student-centered approaches when supporting a student who might be feeling stuck in a moment, or is feeling challenged with a goal of theirs, a homework assignment, or is processing a social/emotional experience. She easily moves between providing support for students as well as support for her fellow peer mentors during peer mentor supervisions and team meetings.
In addition to her employment with College Steps, Grace is a student-athlete on the track and cross-country teams, and has held captain status of the team for the last two years. Grace has been honored on the Dean's List every semester over her last three and a half years at AIC, as well as with multiple academic all-conference awards for her sport. She is a teaching assistant on campus, also a peer mentor for the college's program for student excellence initiative, secretary of SAAC (Student Athletic Advisory Committee), and involved in a number of other campus clubs and organizations.
Grace brings such a positive and infectious energy to the College Steps team, and we are very excited to celebrate her!
