Meet Melissa our December 2020 “Mentor of the Month.”
Meet Melissa, our Peer Mentor of the Month for December. This is Melissa's second year with College Steps and was a crucial part of Conn College's successful first year. Melissa is compassionate, reliable, and inclusive. Her calm demeanor has helped several students ease their anxieties and stressors with their transition to college. The new virtual format of this semester has allowed Melissa the opportunity to cross over and work with some of our students attending NCC as well.
Two students at NCC were struggling and falling behind in their classes. Melissa used her organizational skills and has helped these students get caught up on their assignments. After only a few sessions with Melissa, we have seen a clear change in the students' demeanor. Melissa is always asking "Is there anything else I can do?" and she is flexible. We are happy to have her on the team!
