Accessibility Statement
Effective Date: 11/25/2025
Our Commitment
Steps Program, Inc. d/b/a College Steps Effective Date: May 27, 2026
College Steps is committed to ensuring that our website and services are accessible to everyone — including individuals with disabilities. This commitment is not incidental to who we are; it is central to it. We exist to support neurodivergent students and individuals with learning differences, autism spectrum disorder, and executive functioning challenges. Accessibility is not a compliance checkbox for us — it is an expression of our core values.
We strive to ensure that our website, www.collegesteps.org, meets or exceeds the standards established by the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA, as published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C).
WHAT WE ARE DOING
We are actively working to improve the accessibility of our website and digital content. Our ongoing efforts include:
- Regularly reviewing our website for accessibility barriers and working to address them
- Ensuring that images include meaningful alternative text descriptions
- Maintaining sufficient color contrast throughout the site for users with low vision
- Structuring content with clear headings and logical reading order to support screen reader users
- Ensuring that forms, buttons, and interactive elements are keyboard accessible
- Providing captions or transcripts for video content where applicable
- Testing our website with assistive technologies including screen readers
We recognize that accessibility is an ongoing process, not a one-time project, and we are committed to continuous improvement.
KNOWN LIMITATIONS
While we work hard to ensure accessibility across our website, some content may not yet fully meet WCAG 2.1 AA standards. Areas we are actively working to improve include:
- Third-party embedded content, including videos hosted on external platforms, which may have accessibility limitations outside our direct control
- Some older documents and downloadable files that may not yet be fully accessible
- Certain interactive features that we are in the process of updating
We are committed to addressing these limitations as quickly as practicable.
Assistive Technology Compatibility
Our website is designed to be compatible with the following assistive technologies:
- Screen readers, including JAWS, NVDA, and VoiceOver
- Keyboard-only navigation
- Browser zoom and text resizing
- High contrast display modes
If you encounter difficulties using our website with your assistive technology, please let us know so we can work to resolve the issue.
