During the 2018-2019 year, Andres Ortiz was a first year student taking general studies courses at CCM. As part of his extracurricular experience at CCM, Andres wrote an article for The Youngtown Edition about his personal experience with College Steps. Andres’ team of College Steps peer mentors supported him in investigating how to make a submission and assisted him with the editing process. The editor of the newspaper was so impressed by Andres’ story that it was placed on the front page. In response, Andres stated: “I came to CCM through the College Steps Program because I wanted to be more independent and I am proud to say I am doing well in all my classes.”
